DraftKings Review

DraftKings has been one of the most popular daily fantasy sports sites pretty much ever since they hit the scene back in 2012. While their marketing team certainly helped them get popular, their huge selection of games and consistent software helped them retain those customers. They are starting to hand out nearly $1 Billion per year now, so they are one of the top places to go whether you are a beginner or experiences fantasy sports player.

Games Offered

DraftKings started off by offering daily contests for the major American sports leagues, but they have since expanded to other sports. They currently allow their customers to bet on MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL, Premier League soccer, college sports, MMA, and a number of other sports. Below are just a few of the games and contests that DraftKings offers its customers. Some are only offered for a few sports.

Head-to-Head – This is what makes daily fantasy sports different. Instead of having to wait through and entire season to win (or lose), you will face one person with your picks. If you end up with more points than him/her, then you will take the prize. It really is that simple.

50/50’s – A lot of people enjoy playing 50/50’s because they don’t have to pick a perfect lineup to be able to win. All you have to do is get in the top half of the standings and you will be able to win some money. You won’t win as much as you would in a big contest, but this is a great option when you are unsure about your lineup.

Tournaments – DraftKings offers a number of tournaments to choose from. What’s great about these tournaments is that you know what the prize amount is going to be regardless of the amount of people who end up signing up. These are tough to win, but they usually have great prizes.

Leagues – Daily fantasy leagues are similar to standard fantasy leagues, but they are much shorter. For example, you can sign up for a 10-man league that lasts for a week, and there will often be prizes for the top couple of ranks.

Steps Contests – This game has blown up in recent years on DraftKings. In Steps, you will be in a 10-person contest in which you must place in the top 2 in order to move on. If you end up winning this tournament, you can often turn a small bet into a huge prize.

Rapid Fire – This is a unique contest in which DraftKings will offer you two selections and you will select who you think will do better on a given day. For example, they could ask you if you think Mike Trout or Bryce Harper will do better in their games, and you will select one of them. If you get a certain amount of your selections correct, you will win your Rapid Fire bet.

The Good

Easily the best thing about DraftKings is the huge amount of betting options that you have at your fingertips. No matter what time of year it is, you can be sure that there is some type of sport that you can bet on. Not only that, you will also know that you can put as little or as much money into your lineups as you want depending on how confident you are in them. This is what people want from their daily fantasy sports.

DraftKings also happens to have a great first-time bonus for everyone who signs up on the site. No matter how much you end up depositing, you can be sure that they will give you a 100% bonus that you can use to make more bets. This is something that they have done since they were first created, so you can be sure that it will be there if you sign up. Not only does DraftKings have a huge selection of contests that you can play, they also pay out quickly regardless of the amount. Many other daily fantasy sports sites can take a while to put the money in your account, but that is absolutely never an issue on DraftKings. Many of their customers say that this is the main reason why they have stuck around so long.

DraftKings has a great look to it regardless of the platform. On PCs, the menus and the graphics are the perfect size, so you will have no problems moving around the site. The app is also great because rather than trying to put all of the information in one place like they do on the PC version, you instead of a number of drop-down menus to make navigating extremely easy.

The Not So Good

DraftKings has upped their game in the freeroll department in recent years, but they aren’t one of the best in this regard. While other fantasy sites offer a number of freerolls every day, DraftKings will usually only offer them on the biggest sports and the biggest tournaments. It’s not a huge issue, but it’s always nice to have these available when you want to make an extra bet.
If golf is the sport you like to bet on the most, you might not be a big fan of DraftKings. While they will offer some golf tournaments from time to time, it’s pretty obvious that they prefer their customers to play other sports games. It makes sense since golf isn’t an extremely popular sport, but they could do a bit more for their golf fans.

Overall Opinion

On the overall, DraftKings is one of the best daily fantasy sites in the world and they continue to add more features with each passing year. While there are a couple of things that they could improve upon, they also have features that are unmatched in the industry. It’s no surprise that they regularly have tens of thousands of people competing in each of their contests. If DraftKings continues to get better, it would not be surprising if they were universally seen as the top fantasy sport site out there.
